What I used to do at work when I had time

RivaPowersRiva Powers is a second generation Graphic Designer hailing from the tiny town of Canastota in Upstate New York, recently relocated to Connecticut.

Riva graduated from Pratt Institute in 2010 with highest honors at Radio City Music Hall. Since then she has gained experience freelancing for clients including The New York Times, NYU and Amsale. She is currently employed at Integrated Marketing Services, executing projects and concepts for Unilever.

Her extra time is spent baking mini cupcakes and scouring Netflix for foreign and indie films. Favorite novels include The Picture of Dorian Gray and The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

I was going to title this “What I do at work when I have time” but alas, slow summer days are gone.

Anyways. If there is a day where I find myself not so busy I use my time to collect inspiration on Pinterest and end up sketching one thing or another. Usually it is type cause it’s such an important thing to understand as a designer and there is such a plethora of beautiful type specimens out there to be inspired by.

Still working on getting those hand drawn curves down. I will get there someday!
