I just discovered Typography that Works which is a workshop created by Ellen Lupton, sponsored by MICA on http://skillshare.com. It is a very nice introduction to type course available for FREE. I’ve followed Ellen’s career from the early 90s, and have been recommending her book, Thinking with Type, as the required text for my Typographic Design course since it was first published.
Ellen Lupton is curator of contemporary design at Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum in New York City and director of the Graphic Design MFA program at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore. An author of numerous books and articles on design, she is a public-minded critic, frequent lecturer, and AIGA Gold Medalist.
We were fortunate to host Ellen at Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute in 2011. She then graciously joined our AIGA student group at the Tramontane Cafè to do our very first interview on The Couch Utica. Here are some photos from her visit to Utica.
